Meet Rasp-Berry, a unique and endearing lady seeking a special place to call home. Although initially a very scared and nervous stray, Rasp-Berry possesses a spirit waiting to flourish with the right person. While human love is a new concept to her, she's gradually learning to lower her guard for those willing to invest time and care in her.
This gentle soul absolutely adores the company of fellow felines, making her perfect for a home with an existing, friendly, and confident cat. A fellow feline companion will be instrumental in demonstrating to Rasp-Berry that humans can be trusted and loved. Their courage will help her heal.
Rasp-Berry's ideal home is a tranquil environment, free from the bustling activity of young children or canines. She needs a haven where time, patience, and love are generously offered. With these key ingredients, her barriers will crumble, revealing a wonderful companion underneath. Bilateral Medial Luxating Patellas (MLP)
Rasp-Berry was examined and found to have bilateral medial luxating patella (MLPs). These are grade 1 MLPs, which means that the patellas (knee caps) stay mostly in the correct position within the groove of the knee joint, but can be luxated out of position with some pressure. When the knee caps luxate, they move towards the medial (inside) aspect of the knee. When the hindlegs extend, the knee caps tends to move back into the correct position. Rasp-Berry does not appear to be clinically lame and weight bears on both hind legs well. However, it is hard to fully assess their gait and whether or not lameness will occur in a shelter situation as the cat is mainly in a confined space.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
