About Hummus
Hummus' world changed recently when her loving elderly owner could no longer care for her. Very much cherished throughout her life, this sweet girl suddenly found herself in the busy, unfamiliar environment of the shelter, and it's been a lot for her gentle nature to take in.
Hummus is a naturally shy and quiet soul. The noise, movement, and constant activity here overwhelm her, and like many sensitive cats, she's started to shut down. These are the cats most often overlooked, not because they aren't wonderful, but because they can't show their true selves in a place that feels so scary. But behind that timid exterior is a soft, affectionate heart just waiting to bloom again in the right home.
Recently, Hummus also faced another big challenge: she sustained a serious fracture to one of her back legs, and despite every effort to save it, she ultimately needed an amputation. She's now a proud and capable little tripod getting around beautifully, has adapted with incredible resilience, and proving that three legs are more than enough for a full, happy life.
Hummus is searching for a calm, slow-paced home where she can finally exhale. A patient adopter who understands that decompression takes time will be rewarded with the quiet, steady love of a cat who has been through a lot and just needs someone to believe in her again.
If you have a peaceful home and a soft spot for the gentle, overlooked cats, Hummus is waiting for you. She may not ask for much, but she deserves the world.
Hummus is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Hummus - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
