About Sharona
Sharona is still looking for her forever home and unfortunately since being in foster care, she has not received any enquiries at all.
Sharona is a 9 month old female torbie. She has a rather striking low maintenance short haired marbled and mottled coat with a mix of tabby and tortoiseshell colouring, and dazzling green eyes. Despite being quite young, she has a larger, heavier and more solid build which makes her look like a more mature cat. She is not overweight (confirmed by our vets), this is just her genetics, her siblings were also larger cats as well.
She was surrendered to Brighter Future by a senior woman who was no longer able to care for Sharona due to the woman’s declining health.
Sharona is a gentle soul, she is not aggressive towards people or other animals. She has gotten along well with all the other foster cats she has lived with and is not shy around other people including people she has never met before.
She enjoys being in the company of her person and follows her foster carer from room to room, whether that be the bedroom, loungeroom, kitchen or the bathroom! She is never too far away! Having said that, she is not clingy or dependent, she just enjoys being nearby and knowing what’s going on. She is very curious and always interested to see what her humans are doing.
She can be quite chirpy and chatty, especially when you call her name, talk to her, play with her, give her affection or are about to feed her! She loves food, especially wet cat food, and treats like raw meat, hard cheese, sashimi and licking your dinner plate clean.
She enjoys playing with her toys like the cat wand, balls, scratching post, sitting atop her cat towers and her new found favourite toy, the steel wool from the kitchen sink. Sometimes she carries objects around the house like some of her toys, socks, or microfiber lens cleaning cloths.
She is friendly and likes to receive affection, especially pats on her back or scratches under her chin which make her purr. She prefers to sleep in the same room as her person, and will sometimes come under the bedsheets, especially if it’s cold. If she is bored or trying to attract your attention, she may even jump onto you, or jump on the desk and all over the keyboard if you are on the computer, though generally she is not a lap cat like some other cats, and likes her independence.
Recently at a cat adoption day which Sharona attended, it was discovered that she has a knack for being walked on a harness. Her carers put her on a harness for the first time and she happily and curiously walked around the pet store exploring to everyone’s surprise. She has also been outdoors on a harness, though this is still a very new experience for her and she is still in training, this demonstrates that the potential is there if her new carers feel so inclined.
She is quite clean and uses the litter very reliably, doesn't scratch up all the furniture, and keeps her coat very clean and well groomed.
She is fully vaccinated, desexed and microchipped. She is currently in foster care in Penrith and waiting for her forever home if you would like to meet her.
