About Rusty
Rusty has just turned one year old and is ready to find his forever home. He came into care after a road accident injured one foreleg, but after careful rehab his leg has healed very well and he’s now enjoying life again.
Rusty is a happy, affectionate and people-focused boy. He loves meeting people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and has settled beautifully into his foster home. He’s been gradually increasing his exercise with walks, bushwalks and swimming, all of which he’s taken in his stride. He is still working on his manners and his training will need to continue to ensure he learns to manage his excitability.
Rusty has learned to walk on lead and has good recall, but he will do best with continued training such as obedience classes. He’s toilet trained, crate trained, travels well in the car, and has a great off-switch indoors, happily relaxing with his people. Rusty’s ideal home will be committed to ongoing training and management around any rough play for now.
Rusty is looking for a home where he will have lots of company with a family who want him involved in their daily lives. He could live in a home with a calm dog companion.
Rusty has so much love to give and is ready to bring joy, companionship and loyalty to his forever family.
Medical notes
Rusty injured his right carpal (wrist) joint and nails in August 2025. The wounds have healed well, joint stability has improved without surgery, and he is fully mobile. Some proactive arthritis management is highly recommended for Rusty, but the leg is currently functioning well.
