About Maxx
Meet Maxx, a laid-back indoor boy who’s happiest stretched out on the couch, snoozing near his people and chewing on a tug toy. Please note--he is about the 20kg mark--may appear smaller in some of his pics. He’s been deeply loved, but his former carer can no longer meet his needs, and he’s ready for someone who can give him a bit more structure, attention, and gentle guidance.
Maxx is a chilled, slightly lazy character with a funny streak—he’s been known to take “resting” so seriously he’ll choose the softest spot in the house and stay put for hours. He’s used to lots of human company but also handles being left alone during the day without fuss. He’s toilet-trained, has good house manners, loves car rides, and settles beautifully indoors. Maxx has lived comfortably with cats and is generally fine with children, including the infant he currently lives with. He did react once when a child startled him, so a home that understands respectful interactions between kids and dogs would be ideal.
Maxx hasn’t had much training in the past, so he’s still learning how to meet visitors politely and how to walk calmly on lead. He can be reactive when guests first arrive, but he settles once the initial excitement or worry passes. He’s also unsure about baths, mostly because he wasn’t exposed to them early on, but he’s intelligent, food-motivated and already showing he can pick up new skills with consistency. He knows “sit,” is learning a release cue for meals, and understands “bed” and “toilet.”
Health-wise, Maxx does have a grass allergy, which is one reason he prefers life indoors. A home where he can stay mostly inside—and with someone patient enough to help him build confidence through positive, gentle training—would suit him wonderfully. He hasn’t had much exercise recently, so slow, steady introductions to walks will help him thrive both physically and mentally.
Maxx isn’t a high-energy dog; in fact, he needs very little to feel content. But what he does need is someone committed to giving him a bit more guidance, helping him feel secure with new routines, and showing him that walks and baths aren’t so scary after all. In return, he’ll offer companionship, calm company, and the kind of quiet affection that makes every day feel a little softer.
If you’re looking for a sweet, indoor-loving companion who just needs someone willing to invest a little time in helping him shine, Maxx might be your match. Apply now to meet him!
