About Phoenix
Hi! I’m Phoenix and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR Phoenix
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/TGhom5EYyzCgyGVv8
NOTE: You are unable to meet Phoenix until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Phoenix in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family and not left outside 24/7 with no interaction.
• A submissive dog is the best housemate for me. But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE people, so I'm just as happy being an only dog getting all your love and attention for myself
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy, and we must be introduced slowly.
• Secure Fencing
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
My best features:
• Playful
• Wiggle bum
• Gentle & placid
• I can sit & shake hands
• I have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered girl
• I love attention, having snuggles with my humans, laying in your lap & nudging under your arm or between your legs for all the cuddles
• I love toys especially my ball, playing fetch and tug rope
Where I need to improve / Training required:
• I'm learning to walk on the lead at the shelter and am getting much better. I'm still a bit slow and fearful but with lots of practice I should soon look forward to a daily stroll around the neighbourhood
• I seem to be nervous/scared of other dogs at first and can be reactive towards them, so taking me place where I'll interact with dogs in a controlled environment will help me learn to not fear them anymore.
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue with my socialization
• I love my food & toys so using them as a positive reward should make my training easier.
