About Bella
Introducing Bella!
Bella is a Cattle x Staffy born 17th May 2023.
Bella was brought into the facility as a stray, along with 8 of her puppies. Although her owner was known to us, they didn't come to claim her or her pups.
When Bella first arrived she was a protective mumma, but still very affectionate with staff. We immediately noticed signs of mastitis, so she was taken straight to the vet for a check up. Mastitis was confirmed, she was started on antibiotics & her 7 week old puppies were moved so she could start her healing journey. All 9 of them were riddled with parasites and even through all that, she was still so loving & trusting of humans.
Since being with us, Bella is now back to full health and without the responsibility of being a mum, her excitement for life & exploration has come in full force! She loves going on her walks and seems completely unfazed by other dogs barking around her. She's not overly interested in toys, but she enjoys her little treats and getting all the love from everyone who walks past. While she's not a boisterous dog, she does like to stand on her hind legs to give you a standing cuddle and be within nose kissing range.
Bella tested quite well with other dogs at the facility. She has met both large & small as well as adult & puppy. Her reaction was the same with every meet; she was a little hesitant to start with, she does a gentle sniff, then when she realises she's safe she either loses interest & is unfazed by their presence or she gives a gentle nose lick, then a play bow. When meeting the puppy (who is taller than she is), she did give a corrective snap at him when he jumped on her, then went about her business of sniffing the area and getting love from her handler. We believe Bella could be suitable to live with other calm & friendly dogs, or be the spoilt only "child" at home.
Bella was quite confident when walking in to meet our resident cat, however as soon as she was hissed & swiped at she tried leaving the area. We believe Bella could be suitable to live with dog friendly cats, if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Bella seemed quite scared when meeting our rooster through a gate. She was interested to sniff him at first, then slowly backed away from him and did a quick trot to get away from him quickly. We believe she could be suitable to live with pocket pets if given a slow & controlled introduction to them. Given how scared she was & for her comfort, we would recommend any pocket pets be caged & not free roaming.
Bella has shown no signs of separation anxiety or food aggression since being at the facility.
Bella's adoption fee is $550 and includes her desexing, lifetime registration, vaccination and she is up to date with flea & worm treatment.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
