About Dennis STA013574
Dennis arrived at CPS as a stray in February. He was extremely frightened at first and spent his first few months slowly adjusting to the safety and routine of shelter life. In July, he moved into one of our office spaces to help him gain confidence around people, new sounds, and the general hustle of domestic living.
After four months in the office, Dennis is still wary of humans, but he has come an incredibly long way since his arrival. He’s highly food and treat motivated, which has been key to building trust. He can still be a little swipey when he spots food in your hand, but outside of treat time he is a gentle soul who enjoys snoozing in his cat tower or relaxing on his shelf.
Dennis isn’t yet comfortable with pats unless he’s distracted with treats, and he’s not a cat who tolerates being picked up. He may startle if approached too quickly, so a calm, predictable environment without children or canines will help him continue to thrive.
Dennis loves interactive play with his feather wand, batting around his Kong ball, and lounging on his scratcher or tower.
We believe Dennis has reached a point where he’s ready for the right home—one that appreciates an independent, quirky companion who will flourish with patience, routine, and understanding. If you’re looking for a unique little character to share your space with, Dennis may be the perfect fit.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
