About Sprout
Sprout is a special baby budgie who came to us at 5 weeks old with her two clutch mates.
She had unfortunately been raised on a poor diet, and suffered from metabolic bone disease and low calcium - she had two broken legs when she was surrendered to us. After rehabilitation, he is able to successfully perch and fly now.
We would recommend a range of comfortable perches for Sprout, including natural wood, sisal and platform perches. These will help to prevent bumblefoot and help with any arthritis as she gets older.
She enjoys a diet of fresh vegetables and crumble daily, with some seed in the evenings. She has never been alone and will need a budgie friend to accompany her. Sprout (and her brother Pea) loves the swing and will share one.
Negative on chlamydia and on faecal testing
Sprout (and Pea) is located in Scoresby or Carrum Downs
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Adoption details
Adoption Process – Lazzi’s Legacy Bird Rescue & Sanctuary Inc.
Rescue – Rehabilitation – Rehome
Our adoption process begins with an email conversation, including a series of questions designed to help us learn more about you and your home environment. This helps us ensure the best possible match between you and one of our birds.
Once we have identified a suitable bird, a four-week foster period will begin. This trial allows you and the bird to adjust and determine if it’s the right fit. If things don’t work out, you may either trial another bird or choose to have your adoption fee refunded.
If the bird settles in well and you decide to become their forever home—congratulations!
