Dorris - 6 Year Old Mixed Breed

Dorris is a sweet, 6-year-old, small (13kgs) mixed breed girl with a loyal heart and loving nature. She’s the perfect mix of gentle and affectionate, with the right amount of playful and fun energy. She adores zooming around the backyard with her foster dog siblings before curling up on the lounge, or your bed, right by your side. Being close to her people is her favourite thing, and she loves being included in whatever you are doing.

Dorris loves her daily walks, smelling all the smells along the way, and she walks beautifully on the lead. Whoever said, “old dogs can’t learn new tricks”? Well, Dorris is proving them wrong and is learning some basic commands, such as “sit”. She is very food motivated so she is enjoying her training. She is both dog and cat friendly and is currently in care with 2 other dogs and 2 cats who she gets on well with. She does love to wrestle with her little foster brother so if you have another dog at home, they will need to match her playful nature.

Dorris would be happiest with a family, couple or single person who is home often, as she can feel a little upset when left alone. With time and confidence in her new home, she will settle, but she would also do very well with another friendly, social dog to keep her company. Because she can get excited when you get home (but what dog doesn’t), and occasionally can jump up when greeting you, a home with children aged 6 and above would be best. Although, I think this behaviour may have been learnt from her 7-months old foster sibling!

Dorris is an indoor girl, so needs to be allowed inside, at least when her humans are home, and to sleep indoors at night, preferably on the end of your bed. A secure yard is also important so she can safely explore and enjoy her playtime.

Dorris may not look like your typical fluffy, small dog, but she has a heart of gold, is sweet and loyal and ready to brighten someone’s life if they are willing to return the love.

Dorris is in care in New Lambton, NSW. She is only available for adoption within NSW and ACT. Her adoption fee is $600 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
