About Pawser
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Pawser
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound with his mum and 6 siblings.
BREED: Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Shar Pei
BREED TRAITS: Staffordshire Bull Terriers look tough but are affectionate and loving dogs with family - known as Nanny dogs they are great with children if brought up with them correctly. They love to be with their people and do not cope with being alone for long periods, with you they are happy, therefore they are not outside dogs. They are energetic and intelligent and need a really good work out every day. Early training is essential with this breed especially consistent and positive socialisation around other dogs. Bold, intelligent, reliable, and loyal, this breed is not for novice owners.
The Shar Pei was originally bred to guard, hunt, herd and fight but is now a companion dog. A calm, independent thinker, sometimes aloof he is a good watch dog and devoted to his family. Early training is essential to counter his stubborn strong will and gentle exposure, socialisation with humans and dogs must begin early. Due to his short nose he can be prone to overheating so needs to be an inside dog.

ASSETS: A little shy initially, affectionate, friendly, laidback, playful and very sweet! He is friendly with everyone he meets.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Pawser loves to be around his people soaking up all the cuddles he can get. He also enjoys playing chasey with his siblings and loves to play with toys. He is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where he plays for a while then settles down for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: He’s a little quieter than his siblings but is very affectionate. He loves to be cuddled and to sleep on your lap.
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy, he will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introductions. He could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Pawser will need training for pretty much everything being so young. Housetraining is underway but he still has some way to go to master it. Expect accidents while he’s settling into his new home and routine! He’ll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where he can mix with other dogs, and this is a commitment we will expect from his new owner.
ESSENTIALS for Pawser:
** a loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where he is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as he needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where he can run, play, sniff and explore in safety
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for him to learn and grow confidence – essential
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialisation
Pawser will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium energy as an adult dog.
Pawser has not been in care with children – he could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age, who will interact with him gently but also know when to give him space.
