Meet Gingerbread,
Gingerbread is a sweet little lady with a soft heart and an even softer purr. She’s suitable for first-time owners and would truly thrive in a calm and quiet home, as loud noises can give her a bit of a scare. Gingerbread is open to meeting children of any age and has shown she can settle in beautifully with a gentle, thoughtful household.
When she first arrived, Gingerbread wasn’t too sure about being picked up, but she’s come a long way since then. These days she’s ok with it, though she’ll politely let you know she’d rather keep all four paws on the ground. What she does absolutely adore is being patted — especially soft scratches around her ears, head and cheeks. That’s her happy place.
Gingerbread has low energy needs and isn’t too fussed about toys. Instead, she prefers meaningful, calm interactions with her people. She’s not picky with food and happily eats anything you offer, though wet food is definitely her favourite.
Gentle, friendly, happy and smart, Gingerbread also has a slightly aloof streak that just adds to her charm. She’s curious, social, affectionate, engaging and wonderfully chatty — the kind of cat who’ll trot over for a smooch, share a little conversation, and brighten your day with her presence.
If you’re looking for a sweet, steady, people-focused cat to bring warmth into your home, Gingerbread might be your perfect match.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Gingerbread would go living with dogs. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
As for cats, Gingerbread seems interested in making friends. We encourage anyone with existing cats to do a gradual and supervised introduction over a few days to ensure that both cats have the best chance of becoming friends.
We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. Gingerbread has already experienced living on the streets and she enjoys being inside where she feels safe. If she is outside, it will increase her chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside cat she can live her best life possible.
Staff Comments: Gingerbread came in with one little kitten, who she nurtured, adored and loved. But it's now time for Gingerbread to find a home of her own where she can be the recipient of the same love she gives. She is a quiet cat, who enjoys time with staff but also happy with her own time too. She can be a little shy around loud noises but she is always purring and will give you the sweetest, little meows.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
