Meet Albert,
Albert is a cool, collected boy with a classic husky attitude and a whole lot of charm! While he’s pretty chill for his breed, Albert is best suited to experienced owners who understand husky quirks and can appreciate his unique mix of independence and affection. He’s wonderfully adaptable and able to settle into just about any household environment, and he’d be a fantastic match for active people or families who enjoy getting out and about.
Albert is gentle, agreeable and friendly, with that signature husky aloofness that just adds to his personality. He’s confident, social with people and loves engaging with those he trusts. When he relaxes into your company, he’s affectionate and leans right into the attention. If you’re after a dog who brings a little bit of calm, a little bit of 'sing the song of my people', a lot of character and is ready to explore the world with you, Albert is waiting!
Ideal Home: Albert is best to live in either a townhouse, standalone home or farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Albert is open to meet kids of any age.
Albert is best to live with people who work part-time hours, or with someone who is home more often than not. He is able to spend time in the yard on his own, but would prefer to be inside with his new family or have someone home with him.
Furry Friends: Albert is best to be the only dog in the home for now. Albert is able to be walked by other dogs without issue but up close he can do typical husky vocalisation which can sometimes offend other dogs. Right now, he has shown us any playful behaviours towards other dogs, he's more focused on doing his own thing, but he is aware of the other dog being there and we feel with further training, socialisation and desensitisation he could be friends with other dogs in the future.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Albert would be living with cats/pocket pets. This would up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Albert would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. He is mild mannered and won't ever jump on you, either.
Albert is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as sit, shake and down.
He is food motivated, so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would still be an excellent idea. He also takes treats from you gently. He likes devon but can be a little picky with dry dog treats.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Albert has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep him healthy and content. Albert is not interested in playing with toys, he prefers to go for walks, or simply likes being near you and hanging out with you.
Albert walks well on lead with some pulling at the start, once the excitement wears off he walks beautifully and leisurely. He is able to be walked on any apparatus.
Staff Comments: Albert is smart, interactive and a genuinely nice dog. He would suit most homes and breed experience would be preferred. He is a soft boy, who creates strong bonds with his handlers. He is prone to stress but is also able to self manage and self soothe. He's a delightful dog who is easy going.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
