Meet Humphry,
Humphry is the kind of dog who slips effortlessly into just about any home. Whether you're a first-time dog owner or a household with a full crew, he’s adaptable, easy going, and ready to be part of the daily rhythm.
He would make a great walking buddy for people or families, though he’s certainly not demanding when it comes to exercise. A stroll around the neighbourhood and a bit of time hanging out with his humans is more than enough to keep him content.
Humphry’s gentle and friendly nature shines from the moment you meet him. He’s a happy boy with a social and slightly quirky side that makes him an instant favourite. He’s excitable in the sweetest way and loves engaging with the people around him.
Add in his affectionate streak, and you’ve got a dog who brings warmth, character, and a whole lot of charm wherever he goes. Humphry is simply ready to be loved—and to love you right back.
Ideal Home: Humphry is suitable to live in an property type, yard size is of no concern either, just as long as the fencing is high and secure.
Family: Humphry is open to meet kids of any age.
Humphry is fine to live with people who work full-time hours, and he shows no signs of separation anxiety. He is able to spend time in the yard on his own, but would also like to be inside with his new family, too.
Furry Friends: Humphry is best to be the only dog in the home. He can walk around other dogs, providing they are in the distance, but up close he becomes stressed and uncomfortable. While he may not be suitable to live with dogs currently, desensitisation training around other dogs will assist him in being more calm and happier when seeing another dog - ensuring that he doesn't get stressed.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Humphry would be living with cats/pocket pets. This would up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Humphry would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. He is mild mannered but may jump on you, on occasion when he is feeling super excited.
Humphry is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as 'sit' - he can be a little stubborn and excited when asked, though.
He is food motivated, so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would still be an excellent idea. He also takes treats from you gently.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Humphry has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20-30mins every other day to keep him healthy and content. Humphry does play with toys, he also likes to go for walks, or simply likes being near you and hanging out with you.
Humphry walks well on lead with minimal pulling. He is best to be walked on any apparatus.
Staff Comments: Humphry is a quirky, little guy who is a delight and funny as anything! You can't help but laugh. He is suitable for all homes and would benefit from basic training and ongoing enrichment. He is an affectionate and interactive dog.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
