About Honey
🌼 MEET HONEY – the tiny cuddlebug with a soft heart and big feelings 🌼
Honey is a 5 year and 7 month old Chihuahua who weighs 4kg
Honey came into care as a private surrender due to illness in her previous family.
Honey came into care nervous and unsure and takes a few days to settle, however once settled and she trusts you, she becomes your sweet little shadow, happiest curled up beside you or tucked under the covers on chilly nights.
Honey is the kind of girl who becomes someone’s whole world
💛 Personality & Confidence
Honey is a quiet, loving girl who enjoys calm environments and gentle routines. Once settled she attaches deeply to her special person and absolutely adores cuddles, belly rubs, and soft praise (being told she’s the “best girl in the world” is her absolute favourite).
She is still learning confidence, so she may give a little warning snap (never a tooth) or pull an “angry face” if she is not wanting to do things before she’s ready — she just needs someone who understands Chi quirks and respects her space. Given time, patience, and kindness, she blossoms beautifully.
🏠 Home Requirements (important!)
Honey thrives best in a home that can offer:
✔️ A calm, quiet environment
✔️ Adults or older teens only (13+) who can respect her space
✔️ Someone home more often than not
✔️ A Chihuahua-savvy or small-dog-savvy home
✔️ A gentle, patient adopter who will let Honey warm up at her pace
✔️ A home where she can be the only dog, unless the other dog is very calm and not in her face
She forms very strong bonds and prefers human company over dog company. She does not need another dog for confidence or companionship.
🐾 Other Pets & Social Skills
• Dogs: Good with calm dogs of any size, as long as they respect her space. Not suitable for bouncy or in-your-face dogs.
• Cats: Good with cats who leave her alone.
• Small animals/birds: No interest in the foster carer’s birds.
• Kids: Best suited to homes with no young children; teens 13+ only.
🐕🦺 Training, Habits & Daily Life
• Toilet trained: Yes, but may have small accidents until she settles into a new routine.
• Doggy door: Not tested, but clever enough to learn with patience.
• Crate / Safe Space: Likes having a safe space or a crate to retreat to.
• Walking: Enjoys short, quiet strolls. A calm, steady walker but can get nervous with loud noises.
• Barking: Will bark when unsure or overwhelmed, especially in new environments.
• Grooming: Needs gentle grooming — brushing is a work in progress, so patience is important.
Her favourite place in the world? Right beside her people. She’s happiest curled up close, snoozing, or enjoying endless pats.
🌸 Why You’ll Fall in Love
Honey is a tiny dog with a huge heart. She just needs someone who understands that trust takes time — but when she lets you in, she gives you everything. She is sweet, loyal, affectionate, quirky, and incredibly loving once bonded.
Honey lives life on “Honey Time”… and she is absolutely worth the wait

Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.
Please note - we are not a pound or have kennels - all our dogs stay in foster carers homes and therefore dogs are not able to be simply viewed - only approved applicants will meet the dogs.
Please Note: We do not hold any animals so please only apply if you are ready to adopt now
Please note - We don't take calls on adoption enquiries - an application must be completed

Complete the following adoption enquiry link

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption - each bio will state if available for adoption - please check before applying.
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
