Meet Starla,
Starla is a gentle, chatty girl with a whole lot of character and the cutest “voice-overs” you’ll ever hear. Suitable for first-time owners and happiest in a calm, quiet home, Starla is open to meeting kids from 8 and up, simply because her quirky way of communicating (yes… she’s a growler when she’s content!) can confuse younger children. There’s nothing scary about it — it’s just her unique language.
She loves being picked up, carried, cuddled and is perfectly happy to be patted all over. With mid-range energy but not much interest in toys, Starla prefers to play with her sister Mitra and fill your day with her steady stream of chatter. She’s friendly, curious, social and affectionate, with a little streak of stubbornness and a politely short-tempered attitude when life gets too loud or fast.
While she’d love to go home with Mitra, it’s not required — Starla is independent, confident, and ready to brighten a quiet home with her sweet nature and signature commentary.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Starla would go living with dogs. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
As for cats, Starla seems interested in making friends. We encourage anyone with existing cats to do a gradual and supervised introduction over a few days to ensure that both cats have the best chance of becoming friends.
We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. Starla has already experienced living on the streets and she enjoys being inside where she feels safe. If she is outside, it will increase her chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside cat she can live her best life possible.
Staff Comments: Starla is a gentle, chatty and affectionate girl who loves cuddles, communicates with quirky little growls, and would thrive in a calm home with kids 8+ (and ideally with her sister Mitra, though not essential).

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
