About Boy
Meet Boy❣️
This handsome young Border Collie is playful, loving and intelligent. Unfortunately Boy is deaf. He will absolutely soar in the right home, where he can continue to learn using alternate methods of communication. He responds to some basic hand signals , but his ideal family will help Boy establish boundaries; continue to learn appropriate communication skills; and follow the guidance of our trainer who will support Boy in his new home❣️.
Boy is dog social out and about, and loves humans. For now though, as he transitions into a new home, he may be best as an only dog. He loves to play with his ball and would enjoy having a backyard to explore. Boy will benefit from some additional lead work, but he does love his walks 🐾 and is eager to please.
We are looking for a family who can commit to embracing Boy’s hearing impairment and helping him live a full life regardless! AINB will provide full support and training.
He is untested with cats. Boy likes to chase dogs who are chasing cats, but we’re unsure if he would do this himself. Boy is friendly with everyone he meets, but we’d suggest no young children (older teenagers ok) as he will startle if he is snuck up upon when resting.
Boy needs a home where people are mindful of potential reactions from a deaf dog - if he is startled, he could nip. Open spaces are best for this boy (open plan home). He is just the best boy when you are communicating with him.
He loves his toys but can be possessive of them, so currently he is only having access to his toys when he is outside, so that inside means relax...
Needs 1.5m-1.8m (5ft to 6ft) fences.
Medical notes
Boy is deaf and requires daily structure and support

Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
