About Eddie
Introducing Eddie, our charming and lovable Spoodle who has captured the hearts of everyone who meets him.
Eddie is currently 20 months old, and although he is technically no longer a puppy, he still possesses that delightful puppy-like energy and playfulness that makes him such a joy to be around.
This little fella has a knack for bonding closely with his human companions, and if given the chance, he would happily become a Velcro dog, sticking by your side through thick and thin.
Eddie is on the lookout for a forever home where he can be the sole canine resident (not negotiable), as he does not like to share his living space with other dogs.
Eddie’s list of favourite activities is chasing after a ball with enthusiasm.
He also relishes the opportunity to go for long, leisurely walks, taking in all the sights and smells of the outdoors.
When he’s not on the move, Eddie is a big fan of cuddles and pats.
When it comes to interacting with humans, Eddie is an absolute sweetheart. He adores being showered with cuddles and pats, and his affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion. However, it’s important to note that Eddie does experience a degree of nervous behaviours, which means he may need a little time to adjust to a new home environment., His Nervousness has led him to resource guard his space at times while settling in but fortunately, with the implementation of some effective strategies, this behavior has shown significant improvement and now he is a happy little chap. Eddie can be a bit wary of new people entering his home, but with a little patience and a gentle approach, he quickly warms up and is more than happy to receive a friendly pat.
In terms of his interactions with other animals, Eddie is quite polite when meeting new dogs outside of his home. Although on some occasions he may initially approach with caution, he is generally happy to engage in a friendly sniff and wag his tail. If he encounters a suitable playmate, Eddie is more than willing to engage in some playful antics.
However, it’s important to remember that Eddie needs to live as the only dog in his home, as he does not enjoy sharing his space with other dogs.
Inside the home, Eddie is well-behaved and generally a model canine citizen. He does have a peculiar fondness for underwear, so it’s best to keep those items out of his reach. Aside from this quirky habit, Eddie has not been known to destroy anything else in the home. He is encouraged to stay off the couch and instead relax on his designated mat inside the house.
When it comes to spending time outside, Eddie is quite content to entertain himself. He does have a tendency to bark at people passing by, but he is not excessively barky. Eddie is comfortable using a doggy door and prefers to be inside when his family is out, provided he is allowed to do so.
Eddie’s exercise and enrichment routine is an important part of his daily life. He enjoys his daily walks and is well-behaved on a leash. Playing with a ball and his assortment of toys brings him great joy, and he also appreciates the mental stimulation provided by lick mats and interactive toys.
In terms of obedience and training, Eddie is highly trainable and responds well to commands. He understands the “off” command when asked to get off the couch and has good recall skills. He also knows how to “sit” and enjoys playing the “touch” game, where he touches your outstretched hand in exchange for a treat.
Eddie is crate trained, which provides him with a safe and secure space to retreat to when needed. Eddie’s sleeping arrangements involve spending the night in his crate, which is recommended to continue in his new home, as it serves as his safe haven. It’s worth noting that Eddie can become a bit snappy if woken abruptly from sleep, so it’s best to maintain this routine and avoid allowing him to sleep on the bed or couch.
In terms of toileting and hygiene, Eddie is fully toilet trained, although he may have the occasional excited pee.
Regular grooming is essential for Eddie, and his new family should be prepared to take him for grooming appointments to keep him looking his best.
Eddie’s diet consists of high-quality kibble, and he enjoys receiving treats as part of his training regimen.
It’s important to mention that Eddie has been slightly nervous since he was a pup and is currently on anti-anxiety medication prescribed by a veterinary behaviorist. This medication was initially introduced due to his anxiety around the dog he previously lived with. The rescue has continued the medication to ensure Eddie’s transition to his new home is as stress-free as possible. Once he settles into his new environment, there may be an opportunity to wean him off the medication in consultation with a veterinarian.
A comprehensive plan from a vet behaviorist and a trainer will be provided to help minimize his stress levels.
Eddie has been desexed, vaccinated, and microchipped, ensuring he is in good health and ready for his new home.
The ideal home for Eddie would be one with one or two adults who have experience with dogs.
Due to his potential timidness , Eddie will not be rehomed with children.
He would thrive in a quiet home with a yard where he can do his zoomies and chase after a ball.
A family that can afford his medication and grooming needs, and is patient and willing to follow his training plan.
A home that will provide Eddie with the loving and stable lifestyle he deserves.
