About Claudi SUA014244
Meet Claudi, a quintessential Ragdoll who embodies all the heartwarming qualities this breed is known for. Claudi is a friendly and affectionate girl who truly thrives in the company of her family. Her gentle demeanor and affectionate nature make her the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend to spend their days with.
Claudi's love for attention is matched only by her fondness for a warm lap. She makes her home in your lap, soaking up as much love and cuddles as she can get. She adores being around her people and isn’t a fan of being left alone for long periods. Claudi would be the ideal addition to a household where someone is around most of the time—perhaps a retired family or someone who works from home.
As an indoor-only feline, Claudi is happiest when she's safe inside, soaking up the love and warmth of those around her. Her perfect day involves lounging on a sunny windowsill, engaging in gentle play, and curling up for an afternoon nap on her favorite person's lap.
If you're searching for a companion who will shower you with affection and be devoted, Claudi might be just the lady for you. Her tranquil presence is the perfect remedy for a hectic day, and her endearing personality will fill your home with joy and love.
Medical notes
Claudi was examined and found to have bilateral medial luxating patella (MLPs). This means that her knee caps can be luxated out of the joint, onto the medial aspect of the hindleg. MLPs are graded 1-4, with a grade 4 being one that stays out permanently. Claudi has a grade 3-4 MLP in her right hindleg and a grade 1-2 MLP in her left hindleg, and was already showing signs of being clinically lame on her right hindleg.
X-rays were taken and these showed some arthritis changes in her right knee. Surgery was performed on her right hind to stabilize her knee cap. As the grade of her left MLP was lower and she did not appear to be lame on her left leg, surgery was not performed on this leg.
She has recovered well from her surgery and is starting to weight bear on her right leg better, though there will be times that she may still be a little lame (especially after a period of being really active).
Since Claudi already has signs of bony changes in her right knee so she is going to be a cat that will need arthritis management long term.
This includes:
1) Weight management-it is important to not let Claudi become overweight as that places unnecessary pressure on her joints.
2) Regular sensible exercise to maintain muscle mass and a good weight
3) Joint supplements for e.g. 4cyte
4) Cartrophen course (4 x weekly injections, every 6 months or so)-Claudi has already had her first full course done in Oct 2025
5) Use of non steroidal anti-inflammatories (Nsaids)-these are pain relief medications. If long term use of these medications are required, it is recommended that she gets regular check ups and screening tests (blood test and urinalysis) ~ every 6-12 months
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
