Sage

Sage is a very sweet and affectionate girl who is looking for someone to open their hearts and home to her. Sage has had a few homes in her young life and she has not been given a chance to work on her behavior before people have given up on her.

Sage is a 20 month old amstaff x lab retriever puppy and approximately 32kg!

In the last couple of months with consistent training and positive reinforcement, Sage's behaviour has improved significantly. Sage is great at loose leash walking and engages well with her foster carer on the walk. She has good recall, learned a lot of new tricks and knows how to relax on a mat when asked. Sage is food motivated which makes it easy for her to learn new things.

Sage is toilet trained and will let you know when she needs to relieve herself (no doggie door at current foster carer's home). She is good at being left alone and is not destructive. She has been left alone for up to 6hours with no issues.

Sage is a low to medium energy dog. She currently gets a 40 minute walk a day, paired with enrichment activities like food puzzles games of hide and seek or a few rounds of fetch or tug.

Sage needs some ongoing training to work on her impulse control/ arousal when she gets stressed or too excited. She has a tendency to jump and get mouthy when over aroused (from play) or stressed. Sounds that stress her out include dogs barking next door, air fryers or vacuum cleaners. However since being on medication (Prozac), Sage is now far less triggered by sounds and together with behavior modification, her impulse control has improved significantly over the last few months.

Sage is a loving, sensitive soul who just wants to be near her people and to be loved. Her favourite activity is chilling beside you while you watch tv or read. Please give this gorgeous girl a chance to show you how much she has to offer. Her foster carer will provide you with a training plan (from Sage's trainer) and as much support as you need.
