About Zara - 2 Year Old Border Collie X Kelpie
Meet Zara, a 2 year old loving mixed breed of working dogs.
Zara has come from a loving home, where due to the health of her owners, she was no longer able to be cared for. She is well mannered and an affectionate, easy-going dog.
Zara loves people and is very eager to please. She sits, stays, lays, fetches and even drops the ball when she brings in back! Then she looks at you with her beautiful brown eyes willing you to teach her beautiful young brain more!
Zara is a working breed so needs regular daily exercise. She's dog friendly and would be very happy to live with another dog. Her play style is a bit boisterous, so it needs to be a dog that is at least the same size as her, which is about that of a kelpie with the stocky-ness of a cattle dog.
Zara is pretty independent and would be ok as an only dog, or where the family is at work through the day. She hasn’t been tested with cats or pocket pets.
She's been around young kids and would be suitable for homes with children 6-8 years+ who are confident to tell her to sit and who understand her desire to chase.
Zara has done well on café outings with her foster family, sitting calmly by their side. She’d be an easy companion and would enjoy going on outings with her new family. She loves going for walks, exploring her neighbourhood and sniffing at everything. If you’re taking her further afield, she travels well in the car.
She's house trained, can sleep inside, lounge about inside, but is happy to spend all day outside relaxing whether you’re home or not.
A friend of the current foster carer used to do agility with working breeds, when they met Zara out at a cafe they were obsessed with how much cuteness and potential Zara had.

Zara is in foster care in East Maitland, NSW. Her adoption fee is $600 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, ticks and worms and microchipped.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved, we will arrange a property check so we
can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) Next, we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster
carer's home or at a nearby park.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay the adoption fee*, sign the NSW change of ownership form and our DRN Adoption Agreement and take your new family member home! The two week trial period begins on the day of adoption.
*We prefer payment by funds transfer and don't accept cash or personal
cheques.
