About Tommy
Introducing Tommy!
Tommy is a Cattle x born approx 24th April 2021.
Tommy was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray & sadly no one came looking for him.
When Tommy arrived, he was incredibly timid & we ended up having to carry him into the facility. Since being with us his confidence has definitely started to grow. He's now willing & able to walk on lead around the facility, in our exercise yard & out of the facility on walks. He can still be a little shy with new people and cowers to the ground, however it doesn't take him long to warm up to you. When this happens he turns into a sweet, hilarious puppy who just wants to bounce around playing and to steal a kiss or two.
We've noticed that Tommy gets quite scared with things going over his head ie quicks hands, slip leads, e-collar etc, but with slower movements & encouragement he is making a lot of progress. We've also found that he's much more comfortable to walk with a harness, than on lead. Tommy is an absolutely beautiful boy but he will need a patient & loving family who can continue to work with him on his journey to trusting humans & feeling safe within his environment.
Tommy is non-reactive with other dogs and he is happy to ignore them as he walks past which is amazing, but we have found that when he is face to face with other dogs or if they try playing with him he is so timid he can react out of fear. While we have no doubt Tommy will continue to settle & with further training/socialising he could be suitable to have other doggy friends, we believe he would be more comortable being the only dog at home.
Tommy seemed mostly unfazed by our resident cat & rooster. We believe Tommy could be suitable to live with small animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Tommy has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility, however he has shown mild signs of separation anxiety where he'll bark/cry for a short amount of time before settling himself. We believe that this may settle once he is in a home environment, however he may need a patient owner while he settles into his new home & routine.
Tommy's adoption fee is $500 includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Tommy is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
