Meet Missy!
Missy came into rescue straight off death row with her two brothers, Buster and Rio. From a cold concrete pound to a warm family home, she’s shown just how resilient- and how incredibly sweet- she really is.
Missy is a gentle, affectionate girl who may be a little shy at first, but once she knows she’s safe, she bonds deeply. She’s loyal, soft-natured, and happiest when she’s close to her people, quietly keeping them company.
She is amazing with kids patient, gentle, and calm and fits beautifully into family life. She lives with 3 children currently and is used to a busy household. She also lives with cats who she is great with! Missy is friendly and social with other dogs and truly thrives with canine companionship. Her ideal home has another friendly, playful dog to keep her company and help her feel secure. This is not optional for Missy as she doesn't cope when she's an only dog- but she makes a wonderful second dog and integrates easily.
Missy walks nicely on lead, travels well in the car, and is a pleasure to take out and about. She’s crate training at the moment and progressing well, using it as a calm, safe space when needed so that all the animals can have some alone time and snooze.
At home, Missy enjoys pottering around the yard, relaxing with her dog friends, and coming inside to be part of the family, especially in the evenings. She will need secure fencing to keep her safely contained.
Missy is affectionate without being demanding, gentle without being timid, and incredibly easy to love. She would suit a home that understands she’s a sensitive soul who flourishes with routine, reassurance, and a doggy best friend by her side. She's the ultimate family dog, friendly and keen to be involved!

Medical notes
Missy is currently on 20mg fluoxetine daily to help her ease through the transitions between pound, foster carer/s, and adopting home. Fluoxetine is a very affordable and safe medication commonly prescribed for dogs with Missy's history and temperament. The intention is that Missy be adopted while medicated with Zactin, with this treatment continuing by the adopter until she has settled in and their vet agrees she can be weaned off.

Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. This holding deposit will be subtracted from the adoption fee should you adopt the animal on hold for you.
