Handsome Jackson was rescued from a cat colony, and he has come a long way since his tough start to life....
This young ginger and white boy still carries a few reminders of his time on the streets, but he’s now thriving in care and showing just what a loving, playful cat he truly is.
Jackson has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), which simply means he’ll need an indoor-only home where he’s the only cat, to help keep him happy, healthy and safe.
FIV doesn’t affect people, dogs or other animals and, with good care, FIV+ cats can live long, full and healthy lives.
It wasn’t Jackson’s fault he found himself alone and vulnerable, or that he was injured while trying to survive — but those days are behind him now.
Today, he’s a fun-loving, cheeky boy who adores toys, enjoys a playful wrestle with the resident dog in his current temporary foster home, and can often be found stretched out in a sunny spot, soaking up the warmth.
Jackson has adapted supremely well to the indoor life and he is great company. He is highly intelligent, engaging and has a glint of cheekiness in his eye.
With his silky ginger and white coat and his beautiful, affectionate nature, Jackson is ready to find someone who will give him the safe, happy life he deserves. Could that be you?

**Dandy Cat Rescue is a small rescue run by volunteers. We care for cats and kittens in our own homes. We will respond to your request just as soon as we possibly can and thank you for your patience.**
Medical notes
Jackson is FIV+, which means he cannot be around other cats or be outdoors in case he comes into contact with other cats.
With proper care, including a good diet, a low-stress environment and prompt veterinary treatment for any secondary illnesses, many FIV-positive cats live long and fulfilling lives, potentially for 15 years or more.

Adoption details
HOW TO ADOPT FROM US:
1. Email dandycatrescue@yahoo.com and request an adoption form to be sent to you, fill it out and return it to us. We’ll be in touch!
2. If your application is successful, we’ll make arrangements for you to visit our cats and kittens at our foster carer’s home.
3. We ask that you pay the nominated fee to us via online bank deposit either at the adoption day or at the home visit (preferred), or in cash. We do not accept eftpos, credit or debit card transactions at this stage.
4. You will be provided with a folder of paperwork for your new kitty upon adoption. Your adoption fee includes a Central Animal Records Change of Ownership that is completed by us online two weeks after the adoption.
