About Samson
Gentle giant senior seeking a calm, loving retirement home
Samson has lived many lives - from independent street cat, to deeply loved companion, and now, unexpectedly, senior boy waiting for a home again.
Samson is a 14-year-old gentleman with an enormous frame, a striking white blaze, and the calm, self-assured presence of a wise old cat. Before spending the past decade or more as a devoted indoor companion, Samson likely spent his early years finding his own way in the world. That independent spirit is still part of him today.
He is healthy, mobile, and still very engaged with his surroundings - but shelter life is not where he belongs. After so many years in a stable home, the noise and unpredictability have been difficult for him. What Samson needs now is simple: a calm environment, familiar routines, and someone who will let him settle in at his own pace.
Samson is affectionate and enjoys pats and companionship, but he prefers interaction to happen on his terms. He does not appreciate being picked up or restrained by people he doesn't yet know and trust. When allowed to approach voluntarily and build trust naturally, he is a gentle, sweet companion who enjoys being near people.
True to his size, Samson is an impressively large cat - not overweight, just naturally big. He moves around confidently, enjoys exploring his environment, and likes to supervise whatever is happening nearby. As a senior, he may reconsider the athletics he could master at a younger age, but he remains capable and independent in his daily movements.
Samson has lived with other cats previously and is tolerant of them, provided they respect his space. He is not interested in playing or becoming a new best friend to another cat. He would be happiest as the only cat, or with another calm, independent cat who will allow him to coexist peacefully without expectations.
He is best suited to a quiet, predictable home without children, and with adopters who understand and respect the needs of a senior cat.
Medical and care notes:
• Recent veterinary examination and bloodwork show Samson is in very good health for his age
• He has had some teeth extracted due to dental disease
• He will benefit from routine veterinary monitoring appropriate for a senior cat
• Indoor-only home required
Samson isn't demanding. He doesn't need constant entertainment or attention.
He just needs somewhere safe. Somewhere calm. Somewhere he can spend his retirement in comfort, with someone who understands that the best companions are often the ones who simply choose to be beside you
Medical notes
Will require dental diet
