About Darius
Meet Darius š¾
Darius has come a long way since arriving at the shelter, heās a project, a very handsome but complicated one.
When Darius first arrived, he was a big, confident tomcat with a well-established resting āI hate youā face and an impressive mane that had become heavily matted. Over time, with patience and consistency, he has learned to accept gentle touch, pats, grooming, and sometimes even being picked up.
Despite his tough-guy appearance, Darius is actually a big fluffy scaredy-cat. Heāll sit at his enclosure door looking intimidating⦠until you open it, at which point heās off for cover! But for those who earn his trust, Darius is a sweet, loyal, and affectionate companion. He enjoys stretching his legs during cleaning time and always comes back for breakfast after his morning pats, of course.
What Darius needs in a home:
⢠A quiet, secure, indoor-only environment where he can decompress and continue learning that the world is safe.
⢠Humans who are patient, calm, and familiar with cat body language, happy to let trust build at his pace.
⢠Solo cat only, he does not get along with other cats at the shelter. Darius cannot go to a home with dogs either.
⢠A home without young children.
⢠Weekly brushing once settled. (Darius is really good at keeping himself well maintained now he is spoilt and not roaming the streets, but a little human help would be beneficial!)
Darius is timid, cautious, defensive, and still learning about the world. With the right person, he will become a deeply loyal companion, the kind of cat who chooses his human carefully and takes that responsibility very seriously.
All Darius wants is safety, predictability, and someone who understands that confidence and fear can look very similar in a cat. With patience and love, this big guy will reward you with devotion, personality, and plenty of belly rubs.
