About Jasper
Meet Jasper
Jasper isn’t just any dog - he is a fun-loving, smart, and affectionate German Shepherd who’s ready to be your new best friend. Whether your home is calm and quiet or loud and busy, he will fit right in without missing a beat. This young shepherd is confident, social, and always excited for whatever comes next he thrives on stimulation.
If you love staying active, Jasper is the perfect dog for you.
Jasper would require lots of exercise so morning and afternoon walks exploring new places, and taking on any adventure that comes his way.
Being a young shepherd he needs to be guided through his growing phases and being an intelligent breed he thrives on training, always eager to show off new commands.
Engaging his mind is just as important as keeping him active, and Jasper absolutely loves any challenge that makes him think.
Jasper is happiest when he is with his people, forming strong bonds and always wanting to be involved in whatever you’re doing.
Jasper would do best with experienced owners, especially those familiar with German Shepherds, who can keep up with his energy and intelligence. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and brilliant companion, Jasper is ready to meet you!
Ideal Home: Jasper is best suited to live in a standalone house or on a farm/acreage, with a medium to large yard and high fencing.
Family: Jasper is suitable to meet children from 8 years and up. Reason for this is because this social and playful young shepherd may accidentally knock smaller kids over during play time.
Jasper is best suited to people who can ensure they engage him in exercise to burn up that puppy energy. While he doesn't need your attention 24/7 he is very smart and enjoys being engaged.
Furry Friends: Jasper would love a fur friend of similar size and energy level. Jasper has not met cats or small pocket pets as yet.
Training and Development: Jasper would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience to ensure that he continues with the training he is receiving whilst in care with Bear The Dog Behaviourist.
Jasper knows his name and has learnt to walk on a loose lead, he is crate trained, know’s “the bed” command and is social with his fellow fur friends.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long and is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Jasper has mid-range energy needs and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins a day to keep him engaged and happy. Jasper enjoys rumbles with his fur friends and it would be beneficial if he had puzzles for those times when left at home alone.
Post Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours and reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life and a lot of behaviours and quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind and are patient.
Jasper is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making him a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet him. Should he, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing him back to Sydney or helping us rehome him from your home.

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
