Looking for a goofy, lanky sheep to light up your life? Say hello to Teddy!
Teddy is a young Groodle who was surrendered due to no fault of his own. This gorgeous boy has a beautiful temperament to match his good looks - always seeking out a pat or cuddle. He’s not just a pretty face either - he is a very clever boy and knows his basic commands, walks well on a lead, and has a deep bark to alert you of anything that’s not as it should be. He is very playful and loves a game of fetch - but his absolute favourite thing is chasing bubbles!!
Teddy is currently living with two senior dogs and he is very respectful of their boundaries. When they ‘tell him off’ for any reason he backs straight off - there’s not an aggressive bone in his body. He has good doggy manners when meeting new dogs, and has a chasey play style. Teddy is also living with a 3 yo human, with whom he’s mostly very gentle. He’s the definition of a love bug and wants nothing more than to be close to you. Teddy can be a bit timid and weary of people he doesn’t know but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up. He’s a sensitive guy and thrives on positive reinforcement and gentle yet firm training.
Teddy does have some joint issues that will need to be managed his whole life. Currently it does not seem to bother him much - however this condition is progressive and will lead to early onset of arthritis, and potentially make him more prone to injury. He will require an adopter that has the financial means to keep him on regular joint supplements (4cyte, fish oil) and cartrofen injections, feed him high quality dog food, and who is committed to regular moderate exercise with him to keep him lean and well muscled. He will eventually need regular pain management as the arthritis progresses. More information on his long term prognosis and care can be provided to potential adopters on request.
Teddy does not shed hair and while that might be a bonus for your vacuum, he will require regular clipping to keep his coat nice and neat, especially in the summer months to help keep him cool. Be prepared to pay $150-170 every couple months to have him professionally groomed.
Teddy’s ideal home is one where he’ll be a cherished part of the family and included in every day life - he definitely needs to be allowed inside! He would love a friendly dog to play with although he’d likely be ok as an only dog too if given plenty of attention. While he’s good with young kids, a home with older kids is recommended given his joint issues. Someone experienced in caring for dogs with hip/elbow dysplasia would be ideal.
Teddy may be a bit defective physically but his beautiful temperament more than makes up for it. He’s got such a joy for life and will bring a smile to your face everyday with his affectionate and playful nature.
Teddy is $350 to adopt and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated, HW tested (negative) and given flea/tick/worm prevention.
