About Rustee
Introducing Rustee!
Rustee is a Corgi x born 4th July 2018.
Rustee was brought into the facility as a stray & his owner reached out as soon as she saw his post. Sadly Rustee's owner is going through a rough patch at the moment & although she didn't want to give him up, she isn't in a position to care for him anymore.
His surrender profile has stated that he is an outside dog but is partially house trained, travels well in a car, is friendly with children, adults and strangers, has no separation anxiety and he's friendly with dogs & cats (if introduced slowly).
Since being at the facility Rustee has been an absolute sweetheart & he has already won the hearts of all staff & volunteers. He's incredibly playful and LOVES toys. It doesn't matter what kind of toy it is, whether it's soft, fluffy, a ball, plastic, material etc he loves them all. Rustee is very much a cuddle bug and has loved every person he's met so far. While his photos make him look quite large, he only weighs in at 12.8kg and he's approx knee high.
Rustee tested fairly well with other dogs. He was comfortable with smaller, calmer dogs where he was happy to sniff them etc, however he did get a little still when meeting a large, excitable puppy. No aggression was seen during his testing, however he appears to have no interest in other dogs whatsoever. He was solely focused on love & affection from the handlers doing his assessment. While we believe Rustee would be suitable to live with another dog, we feel he'd be more comfortable as the only pet so he can soak up as much love & attention as he can. In saying that, if you have another friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Rustee seemed unfazed by cats & pocket pets at the facility. We believe he could be suitable to live with small animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Rustee has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Rustee's adoption fee is $550 includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Rustee is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
