About Max
Introducing Max!
Max is a Maltese x Shih Tzu born 9th October 2018.
Max was surrendered to the facility as his owners worked long hours away from home & he has separation anxiety when he's left alone. While he's not destructive, he does bark so he will need an owner who is home more often than not, or be able to be taken with his owners when they are out & about.
His surrender profile has stated that he is house trained, travels well in a car, is friendly with children, adults and strangers, he's friendly with dogs and can walk on lead.
Since being at the facility Max has been an absolutely beautiful young man. He's incredibly affectionate & loves everyone he meets. He loves an ear scratch & rolls over for belly rubs. Max walks quite well on lead & ignores other animals as he goes.. he's also got a cute little strut when he walks.
Max tested well with other dogs. He was comfortable with them, happy to sniff etc, however he appears to have no interest in them whatsoever. Whether it's a playful pup or a relaxed adult, he only had eyes for the staff doing his assessment. While we believe Max would be suitable to live with another dog, we feel he'd be more comfortable as the only pet so he can soak up as much love & attention as he can. In saying that, if you have another friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Max seemed unfazed by our facility cat, however she was hiding at the time so he may need to be re-tested.
Max was very interested in our rooster when they locked eyes through the fence. While he could be lead away, we feel he would be best suited to a home with either no pocket pets, or to a home with caged pocket pets.
Max has shown no signs of food aggression while at the facility, however he does have separation anxiety when he's left by himself.
Max's adoption fee is $550 includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Max is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
