About Rusty
Rusty is the perfect example of a gentle giant. This tall, elegant boy just glides down the street looking to make new friends of passing neighbours and complete strangers. His bright eyes and cheerful grin are hard to resist. Also, being the most handsome boy on the neighbourhood is a bonus. He loves a kind hello and a gentle pat.
Rust has taken to pet life instantly, settling in well from day one of rescue life. He loves his routine and to be involved in what ever you are up to. On work days he will come a give you a quick good morning nudge and go back to bed to be while you get ready. He knows he will then get an early morning walk, come home, have some breakfast and he is set for the day. He will then nap the entire day while you are at work but look forward to your return. Have a bit of a cuddle, another walk, some dinner and settle for the night, quietly relaxing with you.
Rusty does know when it’s the weekend too and quite happy to sleep in if that’s the plan. He also knows weekends mean car trips and adventures so will be very excited when he realises he is going on a car trip. He lovers the car and travels well and will jump in by himself. If he has had a lovely time he may take some convincing him to get out of the car when you are home. He loves the car, it’s his happy place.
Rusty is in foster care with another male greyhound of a similar age. They get on well and have and are good company for each other but we feel Rusty could adapt to being the only dog if his human was around a bit more.
Rusty is very calm and polite with every dog he meets. He is gentle with the little ones too but may decide to move on if they are too yappy.
Rusty is also very gentle with the little humans he meets but may be too big for the littlest ones. He does prefer a quieter home and will often take himself to a cosy place to nap. Rusty is quiet too, we have not heard him bark at all so don’t expect a guard dog.
Rusty finished racing after a track injury to his right front foot. It is not serious but he does have a slight limp. It doesn’t seem to bother him much but may mean not too many long walks.
Rusty’s glorious fawn coat matches his sunny and warm nature. He would love to be your gentle loving best friend.

Adoption details
Thinking about adopting?
We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
If you’re not sure whether you tick every box, please still apply! We’re happy to have a conversation and see if we have a greyhound who might be the right fit.
Please fill in as much detail as you can as there’s no word limit on any question.
