About Marlene STA014054
Meet Marlene, a stunning tortoiseshell lady with a beautiful coat and a heart full of potential. This striking lady has come a long way from her beginnings as a scared and timid stray, and she’s now discovering the joys of life in a safe and comforting environment. While she may still be hesitant with human touch, Marlene’s soft spirit is beginning to shine through, revealing her playful and inquisitive side.
Patience will be key on your journey to winning Marlene's trust, but with time and care, you’ll see a beautiful bond develop. She thrives in a quiet, routine environment that can offer her the understanding and patience she needs to bloom without the sudden noises and movements of a busy household with children.
From her foster home -
Marlene is clearly very unsure of people but shows signs she wants to interact. She will flinch when approached quickly but is keen to sniff you when you’re still and will sit near you when you’re quietly in the room. We have noticed she actively waits by her string toy for us to play with her and will look curiously at us when we are sitting quietly in the room.
She loves squeeze tube treats and will get a lot closer than usual when these are on offer, even licking our hands.
From where she started (hiding and shaking in her crate, not eating, only coming out to use the litter), she is much better and continues to improve slowly.
She is very silly when playing – doing lots of backflips and rolling along the top of her tunnel instead of in it. She clearly plays a lot at night when alone as we hear a lot of noise from the room when we
go to bed.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
