About Otto
Meet Otto the 18 month old Dachshund! Yes that’s right we said Dachshund a one of a kind non-pug …. Pug (we know he secretly wants to be a pug 😜)
Otto came to us through no fault of his own and we are now helping him find a family that are fluent in Dachshund!
He is a very smart boy who (while at Aunty’s bootcamp) has learnt to come, sit, wait and is currently learning to watch, fetch and drop. He is ball and toy focused and loves chasing a ball at the park. He can become a little obsessed and possessive of his balls/toys and he needs reminding to share.
Being your typical Dachshund, he does bark (although this has reduced while in foster care). Initially he is a bit reactive to other people and dogs although he does improve once he feels safe. Sadly, he has learnt to jump, so applicants MUST be able to continue with his training to reduce his jumping.
Where Otto’s nose goes, he makes sure that the rest of him will follow – and he is very quick. He is a very happy and cuddly boy and loves curling up with his humans. You can always tell when he’s happy/contented as he lets out a very loud groan😊
Otto has two speeds – stop and go fast!!!! He is a very funny little character and although small, he sounds like an elephant running up to corridor.
Otto loves his food, and this makes training very easy as he responds well with treats, however his new family must be committed to keeping his weight under control.
He gets very excited when he sees his harness and enjoys an outing of all sorts. If travelling in the car he likes to sit upfront and tell you all the exciting things he sees.
Otto is up to date with all his vaccines and a full vet check has been done! He is a happy healthy 18 month old bundle of joy who loves a good snuggle on the couch or bed.
Otto will do well in a home where he gets lots of play time and stimulation. He enjoys a good play with other dogs at a park or a nice long walk every day. He will do well with another desexed dog to play with and ideally where his people are home a fair bit during the day.
If you think you are the perfect family for Otto, please follow the link to apply. Please give as much information as possible! Breed experience would be ideal but not essential.
**Please note, while all applications will be reviewed, only suitable applicants will be contacted. We always try and match the dog with the best home, so don’t be offended if you are not contacted, it just means we know this little pup well enough to know where best suits him/her.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
