About Biscuit
Mickey spent his early life roaming the streets of Melbourne, living amongst a group of "semi-owned cats", those cheeky felines who aren't quite stray, but don't exactly have a home either. They're often fed by kind locals and know which backyards to visit for a meal, but they don't have that one special person to call their own. That was Mickey's world ... until now.
When he first came into care, Mickey made it pretty clear he wasn't thrilled about the change. He had a lot to say (mostly about how we should back off) and preferred the comfort of a dark hiding spot to the strange world of human affection. But with patience, time, and gentle persistence, Mickey has started to let his guard down.
These days, he's leaning in for pats from the people he's decided are safe, and his little paws start kneading when he's feeling content, proof that under that tough exterior is a boy ready to trust. He's still a work in progress, but every day those cracks in his armor get a little bigger, and a softer, braver Mickey shines through.
It will be tough going, we can't lie. He is going to make you wonder if you will ever get through the hard times, but he needs someone that won't give up on him. Someone that will support him, provide him all the things that a scared cat needs to thrive in a home.
Adopting Mickey won't just change his life ... it will save it. He's a cat who's never truly known what it's like to have a person of his own, and your love could be the thing that finally shows him what "home" really means.
Mickey is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Mickey - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
