About Mindy
Introducing the enchanting Mindy, a delightful Kelpie mix with the stunning golden color and who is nothing short of a heart-stealer. With her captivating ears and luxuriously fluffy coat, she effortlessly wins over everyone she encounters.
Mindy is not just a pretty face; she is incredibly sociable and thrives on interacting with people, always eager to greet new friends whenever the opportunity arises.
Mindyâs world is filled with joy, and her favorite activities reflect her zest for life. She absolutely adores going on walks, where she can explore her surroundings and meet other canine companions. Playing with her doggie friends is another highlight of her day, as is curling up in her cozy bed for a well-deserved nap. Mindy also has a fondness for chewing toys and long-lasting treats, which she can happily gnaw on for hours, completely content.
When it comes to human interaction, Mindy is a true charmer. Despite her young age, she possesses a calm demeanor that endears her to everyone she meets.
While she may take a little time to warm up to new faces, once she does, she is all about love and affection, showering her human friends with kisses. Her gentle nature is simply divine.
Mindy is a quick learner and a joy to train. She has already mastered commands such as sit, lay down (drop), stay, and give her paw. She is also well-versed in sitting and waiting patiently for her food. Mindy is obedient when it comes to entering and exiting the house on command. Her eagerness to learn is matched by her love for treats, making her highly motivated during training sessions.
Although she is still a young dog and can occasionally get distracted, with a bit of perseverance, she is sure to overcome any challenges.
Mindy has a natural affinity for other dogs and is known for her submissive nature. When she feels overwhelmed, she will often lay down and roll over, signaling her friendly intentions. She enjoys regular playdates with a group of dogs at the local park, where she can run around and socialize to her heartâs content. If things get too intense, she seeks comfort from her human companion. Currently living with a male dog, Mindy gets along splendidly and would thrive with another male friend of similar size and energy.
Though Mindy is quite independent and can entertain herself in the backyard, she would be overjoyed to have a doggy companion to share her adventures with. She loves cuddling with her foster brother and is often found by his side. Inside the home, she enjoys playing with another dog, making her an ideal candidate for a multi-dog household.
Mindy has a healthy appetite and is very food-driven. If living in a multi dog household itâs suggested that dogs are always fed separately. Mindy can get a little anxious if another dog tries to eat out of her bowl
Mindy is fully toilet trained, making her a well-mannered house guest. Her medium-length coat is easy to care for, though it does shed to some extent, so regular brushing is recommended to keep her looking her best.
At night, Mindy is a sound sleeper, content to rest in her bed all night long. She currently sleeps in a room with access to the outdoors and is perfectly happy to stay there until morning.
While Mindy is still getting accustomed to car rides, once she is inside, she settles down quickly. She enjoys sticking her head out of the window to feel the breeze or simply lying down for a nap during the journey.
Mindy is an active young dog who thrives on physical activity. She loves going for walks and especially enjoys running, often chasing after other dogs in playful pursuit. She is also learning the joys of playing fetch. To meet her exercise needs, she currently enjoys one walk and one run each day.
Exploration and New Experiences As a young dog, Mindy is constantly encountering new experiences. She can be cautious when faced with unfamiliar places or objects, such as balloons or loud noises. Continued exposure to novel things is crucial for her development, helping her grow into a well-rounded adult dog. Inside the Home Mindy is a model canine companion indoors. She has an impressive ability to self-settle, often curling up on the couch, bed, or in her crate when sheâs tired. While she loves to play and can be quite exuberant, she listens well when reminded to calm down. Mindy also has a charming habit of making cute vocal sounds when sheâs excited.
Ideal Home
Mindyâs ideal home is one that can provide her with ample exercise and mental stimulation. A family committed to continuing her training and exposing her to new experiences would be perfect. Mindy would thrive in a home with a doggie friend, preferably a male of similar size and energy, to help her navigate new situations. Our rescue organization aims to mitigate same-sex issues by rehoming with opposite-sex dogs. Mindy would do well in a home with dog-savvy children who are calm, patient, and understanding of her young dog behavior. A medium to large backyard with secure fencing would provide her with the space she needs to play and explore safely.
