About Katkout
Katkout has come so far in his time in foster care. He's turned into an absolute sweetheart.
He likes to hang out in the lounge room of his foster home, but when you go in there he immediately jumps up to come and say hello and ask for a pat.
Patting him is an absolute joy. To quote one of the teenagers in his foster home "He just gets so into it!". If you stop patting him he'll grab your hand with his paw to tell you to keep going. We think if someone was willing to sit there and pat him all day he'd totally be up for it. And he's so fluffy and soft! He feels divine!
He can get a bit spooked by loud noises and it can take him a while to get used to new places, but once he's settled in and he knows you he will absolutely steal your heart.
He's fine with other cats, but we've found that a few of the other fosters in his foster home don't seem to like him. He'd be perfectly fine as an only cat, and as much as he loves to see you, he's fine to hang out on his own while you're out. We think he'd love a home with one or two adults where he can live the quiet life.
Medical notes
If anything, we would say he has anxiety. Medication might help. When he first came to the rescue we gave him gabapentin, but once he was more used to being in a new place we stopped medicating him. If you're willing to live with his quirks then other than when he's in a stressful situation (like moving to a new home), we really don't think he needs medication. But we'll let you be the judge!
Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption enquiry should be made via
https://form.jotform.com/shellys.place.rescue/adoption-enquiry
2. Once your application has been received, one of our volunteers will contact you for a phone interview. This is to determine whether one of our cats or kittens will be a good fit for your home. We all want long-term success in placing rescue animals, so finding the best fit for the animal AND the family is very important.
3. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place if the application is approved.
4. A property check will take place via a video. Once this has been successfully completed, adoption paperwork finalised and the adoption donation processed, the pet can be collected from foster care.
5. A 14 day settling-in period commences once the animal has been collected from foster care.
6. Adoption is finalised after 14 days. Paperwork/records will be included in an adoption pack.
7. All animals will be rehomed desexed, 1st vaccinated, microchipped and treated monthly for fleas and intestinal worms. Once the adoption is finalised, the new owners are responsible for all vaccinations and preventative treatments.
As we are run entirely of volunteers we endeavour to respond to your enquiry as soon as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to hold any animals. Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now.
