Say hello to Lucy, the 4-year-old Greyhound with legs for days and love to spare!
Lucy decided early on that the racetrack life just wasn’t her thing. After “failing” all her racing tests (we prefer to say scored an AAA+ in the “being adorable” test ), Lucy became a much-loved family pet — and now she’s ready to find her forever home through Dog Rescue Newcastle!
Lucy’s vibe?
Chill, sweet, and secretly goofy. Lucy is the perfect mix of sweet, calm, and playful — she loves curling up on the lounge just as much as she enjoys a good zoomie in the yard. She’ll trot beside you like a runway model on walks, then flop dramatically onto her bed (or your couch) for her next big nap. Lucy is a gentle, affectionate girl who’s great with people, calm around cats and other dogs, and was best buds with her French Bulldog companion .
Lucy’s stats:
- Age: 4 (young enough for adventures, old enough to know the rules)
- Personality: Gentle, affectionate, and a little bit silly
- Great on the lead — she’s got the supermodel strut down! Don’t expect speed, Lucy needs to sniff everything.
- Lucy isn’t a barker, making her ideal for apartment living.
-She’s well-mannered and quiet and if she needs your attention she will give you a polite squeak.
-Professional napper, cuddle enthusiast – you’ll learn all about the “greyhound lean” where Lucy shows her love by leaning in to you affectionately. If you’re really lucky, Lucy will rest her paw or her head lovingly on you as her way of telling you she’s happy to be with you.

Lucy is in foster care in Cessnock, Hunter Valley, NSW. She’s available for adoption interstate. Her adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:

(2) If the questionnaire is approved, we will arrange a property check so we
can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) Next, we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster
carer's home or at a nearby park.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay the adoption fee*, sign the NSW change of ownership form and our DRN Adoption Agreement and take your new family member home! The two week trial period begins on the day of adoption.
*We prefer payment by funds transfer and don't accept cash or personal
cheques.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
