About Iris
Meet Iris (aka Big Bubba) guaranteed to make you smile every single day! With her wiggly bum, dopey grin, and endlessly goofy antics, Iris is pure joy wrapped in a gorgeous tiger-striped brindle coat. She’s independent enough to enjoy her own space but has an incredible intuition — if you’re ever feeling unwell or down, she somehow knows and won’t leave your side until you’re okay again.
On lead, Iris is a dream to walk — calm, easy-going, and with great recall. She’s well-mannered, knows her basic obedience, and even has a few fun tricks up her sleeve. Iris strikes the perfect balance between mellow and playful, making her a loving and entertaining companion.
🏡 Her Ideal Home
Iris is looking for a special home where her love of swimming can truly shine. Her perfect day begins (and ends!) with a splash — access to a pool, dam, or nearby lake would make her the happiest girl in the world. After a swim, she’s content to nap the day away.
She’d do best in a home without a direct street view, as she takes her “neighbourhood watch” duties seriously and likes to alert you when other pups pass by.
Iris would thrive with someone home most of the day — she’s crate-trained and fine for short periods alone, but she loves being part of the daily rhythm of family life.
As a bonus, she’d be thrilled to have occasional catch-ups with her littermate, Osirus — the two share a special bond.
⚡ Energy Level
Iris has a lovely, low-maintenance energy level. She enjoys walks or swims about four days a week, followed by a few zoomies when she gets home — then she’s happy to snooze or lounge for the rest of the day.
👧 Suitability with Children
While Iris hasn’t spent much time around kids, her calm and gentle nature makes her a great fit for respectful children. She doesn’t jump up and tends to mirror the energy of those around her, so with proper introductions, she should settle in beautifully.
🐶 Suitability with Other Dogs & Cats
Iris could happily share her home with another dog — ideally medium to large — or even cats, as long as introductions are slow and thoughtful. She enjoys canine company once she’s had time to get to know them, though she prefers other dogs not to rush up to her off-lead.
Iris is the perfect blend of charm, smarts, and sweetness — a soulful, silly girl who’ll make your days brighter and your heart fuller.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
