Meet Turbo, a beautifully affectionate American Bulldog mix with a big smile, a soft heart and an enormous love for his humans.
Turbo is, first and foremost, a people dog. He adores human company and loves being included as part of the family. In his foster home, he has even been given special privileges not normally granted to foster dogs — he is allowed to sleep on the bed with his teenage foster brother because of his calm, gentle and affectionate nature.
Turbo loves children and enjoys being close to his people. He could fit beautifully into a family home, but he would also be a wonderful companion for a couple or a single person looking for a loyal, affectionate best mate.
Turbo can be selective about his canine company. He is not keen on exuberant, high-energy dogs and would much prefer calm, polite company. With a proper introduction, he is comfortable with placid female dogs.
Turbo walks nicely on lead once settled, but he is a strong boy and can be strong on lead, especially in unfamiliar environments. His new family will need to give him plenty of time to decompress and settle into his new home before taking him out and about or introducing him to lots of new dogs and people.
Turbo needs calm, confident handling and owners who will show him that they have things under control. If he feels unsure, he may default to looking after his humans himself — so he needs people who will provide clear guidance, reassurance and steady leadership.
Turbo’s ideal home will offer secure fencing, plenty of human companionship and abundant indoor privileges. A compatible, calm female dog may be a bonus, but his greatest need is a home where he is genuinely valued as an integral family member.
Because Turbo is a strong bulldog-type boy, prior breed experience will be highly regarded.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
