About Gary
Meet Gary, a sweet boy still looking for his place in the world! Gary will do best in a home with structure and routine - he thrives with predictability for his ongoing training needs. Gary has unfortunately missed out on some vital socialization, and needs an owner who can understand that he is still learning and getting used handling and interactions.
He can be worried with close handling and can show some appeasement, so will require consistent impulse control training and LOTS of positive reinforcement so he can make positive associations with all the scary things he's not quite used to yet. Once he is comfortable, Gary is a super affectionate boy who adores being with his people!
Gary would love to be included in daily family activities around the house. He may do well with crate training that will provide Gary with a place to go when feel overwhelmed. Gary will be best suited to a home with teens or adults only who can be involved in his training and can read his body language and understand when he may need some space. Gary must meet all household members at time of adoption.
Gary has shown he can be a little worried by cars, so he may need to be walked in lower traffic areas where he can start to build those positive associations around cars in a more controlled environment.
Gary has shown dog sociability in shelter, but can become overwhelmed and worried by boisterous or forward dogs - must meet any other dogs at time of adoption.
