About Lexi
Introducing Lexi!
Lexi is a Staffy x born 4th March 2024.
Sadly Lexi's owner moved out of their property & left her behind. She was left at the property by herself for multiple days before being found roaming. She was then brought into the facility as a stray. As you can guess, her owner did not come back to claim her.
Since being at the facility, Lexi has been stressed in the kennels but she is an incredibly affectionate girl with all staff & volunteers. She loves to play & does happy spins when she's excited. Lexi is food/treat motivated which has been helping with the start of her training. When Lexi is calm she's a very gentle girl, however she does jump up on you when she's excited. With this in mind, she may accidentally knock over small children from time to time.
Lexi's dog testing showed varied results. She was quite playful & friendly with a small, calm female Toy Poodle, however she was very defensive around both calm & boisterous male dogs. We know that Lexi has previously lived with a small dog, so we believe she has the potential to live with other dogs, but she may be more comfortable being the spoilt only "child" at home. In saying that, if you have a friendly dog, we would need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Lexi appeared to be scared of our facility cat when she was hissed at. We feel that with a slow & controlled introduction she could be suitable to live with cats.
Lexi was mostly unfazed when meeting our rooster, however she did get a bit excited when he shook off his dirt bath. While no aggression was seen, we're recommending if she is to go to a home with small animals that they be caged only & not free-roaming.
Unfortunately due to being abandoned by her owner, Lexi has shown signs of separation anxiety. While this may settle when she's in a home & new routine, she may need a home where someone can be with her more often than not.
Lexi has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility.
Lexi's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, lifetime registration, vaccination and she is up to date with flea & worm treatment.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
