Allow us to introduce Mateo, a sweet and sensitive young gentleman looking for a calm, loving home to call his own.
When Mateo first came into care, he was a shy little soul unsure of the big wide world. But over the last few weeks, he's truly come into his own showing off his playful side, his love for chin and cheek scratches, and his incredibly soft belly (trust us, it's like touching a cloud!).
To help Mateo feel safe and secure, we recommend starting him off in a designated safe room. This gives him a chance to find his bearings, learn where the litter trays are, and get comfortable enough to explore. Once he's toileting reliably, exploring confidently, and approaching for food, play, or affection, you can start to slowly introduce him to the rest of your home.
Mateo isn't a fan of being picked up, but he loves to curl up nearby while you watch TV, though he usually dozes off before the first ad break. He's a quiet companion who enjoys being close but also appreciates his alone time, often tucked under an ottoman or blanket for a cozy nap.
When playtime hits, though, he transforms! Wand toys don't stand a chance, and his little chirps and trills while he's in "hunting mode" are ridiculously cute. He's also got ball skills that would make any soccer pro jealous.
Mateo is a simple guy who is really only interested in dry food (no fancy treats for him), a few comfy hiding spots, a window to gaze out of, and a human who understands that love sometimes means giving a little space.
