About Pepper STA013965
Meet Pepper, a gentle and delicate soul on a journey of transformation. When she first arrived, Pepper was a very scared and timid stray. Thanks to the love and care she has received in her foster home, Pepper is slowly emerging from her shell and learning about the comforts of a loving home. This quiet and serene environment has worked wonders in helping her experience the warmth of companionship and the joy of simple pleasures.
Pepper is still shy, but she's discovering that humans are quite wonderful after all. With access to cozy beds, delightful toys, and plenty of delicious food, she's learning to enjoy what her new world has to offer. While she's making strides, Pepper will thrive in a tranquil home where patience and a gentle approach are readily available.
Pepper's ideal new family would be one that appreciates the quiet and understated joys of life. A household without children or canines is essential, as Pepper continues to adapt to her new reality. For someone willing to invest time and affection, this beautiful lady promises to be a cherished companion.
From her foster home -
She is very scared, but will warm up over time with patience and persistence. Treats are super helpful and she will walk around a little and accept pats after some adjustment. It’s important to maintain a regular routine and talk with her/pat her to establish a safe space and friendship. It seems that she is more accepting and excited for pats when she relocates away from her bed and goes elsewhere in the laundry, such as her horizonal scratching board.
Loud noises scare Pepper, especially at the start. For the first week, it’s ideal to avoid wearing shoes around and in the room Pepper is located.
Medical notes
Vision Loss
Although Pepper still appears to have some visual deficits, her foster carers have noted that she does appear to have some vision (most likely shadows/shapes rather than clear detail). She is able to cope in a home as long as there are no sudden changes with furniture placements. It is important to introduce her to new surroundings slowly-start with a small area first to ensure she is able to cope, before increasing access to other areas. It is also important to approach her appropriately with other cues so she does not get a sudden fright. For eg, calling out her name as you approach, letting her have a sniff to let her know you are nearby.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
