Lana

Meet lovely Lana, a border collie x who will steal your heart with her sweet nature, soulful eyes and playful energy.
Lana is a very sweet girl with ears that have a language all of their own. She is goofy, excitable, snuggly, smart and very beautiful.
Lana’s favourite thing is chasing and playing with her dog foster siblings. She loves running around and exploring, and if you are working in the garden she will find a comfy spot to lie down near you and supervise.
Lana looooves people and we think she would be great with kids, as long as they are not too young. She loves all dogs and wants to play with every one she meets. She has been living with 3 other dogs in foster care and loves them all equally.
Lana has excellent recall and picks up new commands quickly, as she is very eager to please her people and is super smart. She is toilet trained and travels calmly in the car.
Lana takes correction well from the older dogs in the house and is respectful of them. She is curious about other animals but doesn’t seem to want to harass them. She has been fine around chickens (outside the pen, of course), is interested in kangaroos but doesn’t chase them and will readily come away when asked. She has not been tested with cats.
She loves her food, takes treats gently and has never met a treat she didn’t like. She is getting better at waiting patiently for her turn to be fed. When she first came into care she was extremely thin, but with good nutrition she is now a healthier weight.
She is happy to settle down with a pig ear or bone when being left alone. She would be happier with a dog sibling to keep her company, however.
Lana is ok with being bathed and enjoys a towelling and a brush. She is very comfortable being touched, having her feet touched, and is very trusting with her people.
Lana happily sleeps through the night on a dog bed or in a crate (although she will try to sneak up on to the people's bed for cuddles during the night and will stay there if you allow it.) She loves having a cuddle on the couch after a busy day of playing.
Lana loves a walk and walks really well on lead. She loves a good sniff and runs around, checking everything out. She is very high energy, so will happily go for more than one walk per day.
Lana needs to continue to work on her impulse control, in particular around counter surfing and stealing shoes and food if she can get it, however she has very few bad habits and simply needs some boundaries to be reinforced. She shows no particular destructive tendencies, and is happy to swap a shoe for a toy or chew.
Lana is seeking an active home with a large backyard that can accommodate her love of running and playing. She needs a family who is prepared to continue her training and keep her mind occupied. She would absolutely love to have a young, energetic doggy friend to play with. She would make a great running partner and would also do great with dog sports, or just be involved in all of the family’s activities. She is the sweetest, most fantastic dog who will bring joy, laughter and love to her lucky family.
