About Charlie
Meet Charlie… A Loving Little Poodle Cross Who Needs a Calm, Caring Home
💖 The Home Charlie Needs
Charlie is looking for a family who can offer more than just love – they need time, patience and commitment to help him thrive. His perfect adopters will:
• Spend quality time daily – whether that’s play, training or simply relaxing together.
• Provide mental and physical stimulation – toys, walks, adventures and activities suited to his energy level.
• Offer a safe and secure environment – indoors with a warm bed and an outdoor access that is fully fenced.
• Commit to healthy nutrition and vet care – regular check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention and a good diet.
• Continue positive training and guidance – using kind, reward-based methods to help him learn and feel safe.
🐕 Lifestyle Match
Charlie will do best with adopters who:
• Spend time at home during the day.
• Home body lifestyle.
• Calm and patient energy.
• Previous dog experience.
• Adult only household.
• Comfortable with dog indoors and on furniture.
• Happy for dog to sleep in human’s bed at night.
• No loud voices or yelling.
🏠 Other Pets
Charlie doesn’t need to be the only pet and tolerates other dogs, needing a housemate that would be happy to hangout. He isn’t food protective and can be fed around other dogs. He has a spent time with small, medium and large breed dogs.
Charlie is tested with cats, and has not chased other animals including the goats, chickens and indoor galah he currently lives with. He’s never snapped or attempted to bite; he just avoids.
🐾 Ongoing Needs
To ensure Charlie has the best life, adopters must be ready to:
• Provide daily exercise suitable to his age and breed.
• Provide ongoing enrichment (puzzle toys, training games, scent work, etc.).
• Provide regular grooming (at least 5 clips a year) and weekly eye, ear and feet maintenance.
• Provide continued training to manage separation anxiety when left alone at home or in a room.
• Make him part of the family, and not left outside alone.
• Be a pack leader and help him snap out of bouts of anxiety.
• Provide behavioural training with no shouting and clear calm instruction and praise.
• Be a calm, patient owner to create confidence in new situations.
🐶 Personality Traits
Charlie can be a bit of a worry wart, but when he is relaxed and in his happy place, you couldn’t get a more loving fur buddy. He’s the type of dog that just knows when you need a cuddle, and loves nothing more than trying to please you. He does however need continued training to ensure his anxiety is managed and he doesn’t become too clingy.
He loves a ball game or a bit of gentle tug of war. Though he tends to become a bit ball obsessive, so will need someone who will continue to help him realise when game time is over.
Charlie came into care a little underweight, and his teeth needed some attention. Once he had them cleaned, and a few removed, he was eating like a trooper and gaining some much needed weight and top line. He’s now very healthy, and has a lovely soft, curly coat and bright attentive eyes. With regular exercise, he will continue to develop more muscle tone and weight.
At night his favourite thing is to snuggle in or lay at your feet… he just loves to be loved. He has the sweetest little face and not a mean bone in his body. If you love a smoocher, he could be your perfect dog!
