About Darcy
Darcy was rescued from a northern rivers pound when he was next in line for euthanasia. He was complete skin and bones and in the most awful condition. Friends of the pound (tweed) were asked to take him as there was no foster home available in his area. He was vet checked and has a pancreatic disorder. (see medical notes) he was getting no nourishment from the food he was eating and was literally starving to death. Mr darcy is the most beautiful dog. He has no malice. He is handsome (hence the name), loving, loyal and gentle. He loves everyone and gets on well with other dogs. Not sure if he has met a cat, but i imagine he would adjust. He is happy with whatever home we have given him. Darcy is now up to his ideal weight of 20 kgs. His coat is shiny. He loves his walks. Darcy would probably be best as the only dog because he cannot eat anything but his special diet and no treats and it could get awkward with another pet in the house. We were told he was a spaniel cross, but he looks rather like some sort of setter or black retriever cross. Whatever it is it is lovely. Because we are close to the nsw/qld border our animals can go to either state. We do not transport animals interstate
Medical notes
. Darcy can only eat id dog food available in 20kg bags from vets or online. This must be mixed with an enzyme supplement. He can have oatmeal with skimmed milk and a few other things, but any other food goes straight through him. We have spent months working with his wonderful foster carer and a vet getting the balance right and seem to have worked it out. Darcy will have to go to someone who can afford his food. It could cost about $10 her day. But the good news is - no money needs to be spent on bones or treats or other bits and pieces. Darcy is more than happy to eat his food. You can google pancreatic disorders in dogs and get the lowdown
