About Zali

• Currently living with two other greyhounds
Hi, I’m Zali!
I’m a 5-year-old brindle girl with a beautiful coat and a petite, stocky frame - everyone says I’m a real cutie!
I’m a sensitive and gentle soul who is still finding my confidence and learning about the big, wide world. I can be a bit timid at first, especially around men, but if you’re soft, patient and quiet with me, I’ll soon start to trust you. And once I do, I’ll be your little shadow! I’ll follow you everywhere and love you with all my heart. I just need someone to give me time to blossom into the happy, confident girl I’m meant to be.
I adore spending time with my doggy friends and take a lot of comfort from their company. They help me feel brave enough to go for walks, explore the gardens and enjoy new experiences. I also love splashing around in my shell pool on warm days - it makes me so happy! Because I’m a sensitive girl, I’d love a calm and quiet home with another greyhound to show me the ropes. Kids over 12 would also be fine, as long as they are kind and understand that I need space and quiet while I’m settling in to home life.
I've been living in a foster home for the past few weeks with two other greyhounds. My foster family report that I am coming out of my shell more and more with each passing day. I'm still building confidence with leash walking; I enjoy quiet walks but like to stop and wait for people to pass. I'm completely unfazed by other dogs and I get along well with my two greyhound foster-siblings.
I can become nervous if another dog sniffs my rear (understandable, right?). I am still practising my alone time, but I relax more quickly when my fellow hounds are around.
I have shown no resource guarding and no sleep startle. I'm happy to share toys, beds, and treats comfortably. I really love snuggling on the couch or bed, as it makes me comfortable and less nervous. I find it tricky to settle when people are moving around but I do relax once everyone sits down.
My foster parents say I have shown big improvements in relaxing over my first two weeks. They say I have a fun, sassy personality which is emerging more as I gain confidence.
So if you have a peaceful home and a loving hound who wouldn’t mind sharing the couch, I promise to be your loyal and loving companion.
