About MacK
Meet Malakai!
Malakai has had quite the journey with us, originally coming here as a stray where he was super scared of everything (I mean can you really blame him!?) to a dog that has shown us he can gain confidence with the right approach and a gentle hand. He is a sensitive and gentle soul who would love the chance to prove what a great dog he will be in his perfect home.
The first thing to mention with Malakai, is that he may just view his humans as his own personal treat dispenser. Boy, does this guy love his food. He is very gentle and polite at taking treats, but naturally if you make him wait too long, he may just have to take matters into his own paws and gently nudge or jump on your legs to obtain said treat.
Malakai can be scared meeting new faces and appreciates when he is able to approach people when he is ready and in his own time. If you are planning on coming to meet him, he may be a little reserved in the beginning, but once he is comfortable he will seek that interaction with you (especially if treats are involved). He is a bit of a slow burn, but who doesn't love the reward of earning that trust and loyalty over time!
Malakai has spent a lot of time with our trainers on site and in this time has shown us what a sweet and cuddly boy he is, when he feels safe and respected. He is great on loose lead walks, whether that is a solo walk with staff or walking alongside another dog.
Speaking of other dogs, Malakai has shown us he can get along great with other well-matched dogs. He enjoys his recreation time in the yard with them, even if that is simply exploring their own corners of the space and doing their own thing. We have seen he gains confidence around other calm dogs, so if you have a resident dog that meets this criteria, please bring them along for a meet and greet. He would love to learn all he can from another doggy friend.
Malakai is eager to find his perfect home and is patiently waiting, come and meet him today!
