About Benji
Meet Benji, a cute little warrior with a big personality and an even bigger heart, wrapped up in a 3.2kg body of a Mini Foxie and Jack Russell Terrier charm.
At just 7 months old, Benji has not had the greatest start to life. Benji has come into care from a private surrender with two of his siblings - and Benji was their protector. Benji was very scared and protective of his siblings and took that job seriously.
The rescue has worked with Benji, and his siblings and we have separated them for their own benefit. Benji is now learning that it's okay to be a pup himself and not be constantly in protective mode.
Benji did spend the first few days in care very unsettled and nervous. Once the siblings were separated his foster mum has advised that it's honestly like Benji can now breathe for the first time in his life and just be him.
Benji did require lots of treats when he first came into care but now very happy to hang with other dogs (not siblings) and currently lives with a 11-year-old boy.
Benji is showing a beautiful gentle side and loves to follow his humans around while they are home but also being able to go outside and just check life out.
Benji is starting to show some beautiful bursts of playful energy, a love for the outdoors, and just the right dash of mischief to keep you smiling.
Benji has had all his vet work completed whilst in care and gaining confidence each day with the help of his amazing foster mum.
Benji is fine with other dogs of all sizes, shapes and breeds. Loves to have a wrestle
Toilet training is going well— Benji is picking this up very quickly and we believe that at his new house he will continue to improve (we are about 85% at the moment)
Benji hasn’t been tested with a doggy door but with his smarts he will pick that up in no time.
Benji has enjoyed sleeping on the bed but in typical Mini Foxie style loves to be as close as possible. Benji does not like to be crated unless absolutely necessary.
Benji may take a day or two to be comfortable with being held but a few tricks a quiet home and he will come back out of his shell in no time.
Benji's foster carers have been gently earning his trust with food, and let’s just say, Benji is very food motivated.
We have not started Benji on any lead training or walking as he has only just had his first vaccination in life!
Benji needs a gentle, understanding home that can offer consistency, space, and time. He’s not the "snuggle on the couch" type straight from the get-go - give him a couple of days and then you will see the snuggle bunny
Benji has not been tested on cats
Benji currently lives with an 11-year-old who he does bark at when he is loud and energetic, and we feel that Benji would probably do better with a quieter home with kids either over the age of 15 or no kids at all.
Are you that home that will give Benji that few days first coming home chance? Will you continue to help Benji learn to be a dog and not a protector? He honestly deserves this chance - is that you?

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.

INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
