About Austin
Austin is a classic working Kelpie, with that well-known mix of intelligence, energy, and loyalty. Despite his breed, Austin actually prefers a suburban environment and feels more comfortable with structure, routine, and defined spaces rather than large open properties.
He would love an inside/outside lifestyle and has shown no signs of separation anxiety when left inside the house while his people are away, making him well suited to full-time workers who can provide routine, enrichment, and daily engagement.
Austin will thrive with a confident, experienced owner who understands the importance of mental stimulation and consistent training. Secure 6-foot fencing is essential. He’s not suited to homes with small animals or cats and would do best with pet-savvy children who can respect his boundaries and needs. Austin is currently working on his socialisation with other dogs, and would do best as the only dog in the home, with an owner who can continue this training.
Sweet-natured and eager to engage, Austin shows excellent training potential, especially when squeaky toys or tasty treats are involved.
Austin is still working on his manners, particularly around moving cars, which can trigger some reactivity. With the support of a professional trainer, he has great potential to channel his instincts appropriately and grow into a well-rounded companion.
If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent dog who prefers suburban life, enjoys routine, and will reward your effort with devotion and enthusiasm, Austin could be your perfect match.
